THE ALPHA PROMISE

Black isn’t
transparent.

A black fill only looks removed in one player. A real alpha channel stores the opacity of every pixel, so soft hair, glass and motion blur can blend into whatever comes next.

PLAIN ANSWERS

Before you upload.

Formats, credits and limits, before you spend anything.

Does MP4 support a transparent background?+

No. Ordinary H.264 MP4 has no alpha channel, so “transparent” MP4s are really a black or green fill. For video we export WebM with VP9 alpha, which stays transparent in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and OBS. Safari needs HEVC with alpha, which we do not produce yet.

Which formats can I download after background removal?+

Videos: transparent WebM (VP9 alpha), plus a free ProRes 4444 MOV for editing software, up to 15 seconds. Images: transparent PNG, or a white-background JPG made from the same result at no extra cost. Our free converters also turn PNG sequences, WebM and ProRes into each other.

How are credits counted?+

One credit per started second of video, or per image. New accounts get 5 free credits after signing in with Google. Packs start at $6.99 for 60 credits and never expire, and a failed job returns its credits automatically.

What happens to my files after upload?+

Uploads are stored privately and deleted about 24 hours after upload. Results stay downloadable from My videos for 7 days, then they are deleted. Only your account can reach them.

Will hair and motion blur stay clean after background removal?+

Hair, glass, motion blur and fast movement are the hardest cases for automatic background removal. Check the result over light and dark backgrounds before using it in a final project; if a failure is our fault, write to us and we return the credits.

Why are clips limited to 60 seconds?+

Short clips keep processing time and cost predictable. Split longer footage into parts of up to 60 seconds, 30 fps and 200 MB each.

Why is my downloaded video black?+

Most desktop players—Windows Media Player, Films & TV, VLC and QuickTime—ignore the alpha channel in WebM, so they show a black background and the rough pixels around the edges that the alpha normally hides. The file is still transparent: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, OBS and web pages show it correctly, and the free transparency checker previews it over a checkerboard. For Premiere, After Effects, Resolve or Final Cut, export ProRes 4444.
