BG Remover Online removes the background from images and short videos. To do that it has to store your file and send it to services that process it. This page says what is kept, who processes it, and for how long. There is no advertising. We use two analytics services to understand how the site is used, described below.
Your files
- The file you upload is stored privately so it can be processed. Your original upload is deleted once it has been checked; a processing copy is kept until your job finishes and is deleted automatically about 24 hours after upload. An upload you never process is also deleted after 24 hours.
- The result—a transparent PNG or WebM—is kept for 7 days against your account so you can download it again from My videos. After that it is no longer accessible and is deleted. You can delete a finished job sooner; new downloads stop immediately, although a preview link already issued can keep working for up to 5 minutes.
- Files are reachable only by the signed-in account that uploaded them.
Who else processes your files
We use a small number of processors, each doing one job:
- A cloud hosting and storage provider runs this site, its database and the private storage your files are kept in.
- An AI inference provider runs the background-removal models that separate the subject in your image or video.
- A media-checking service inside our hosting provider reads a video’s duration and frame count and confirms that results contain a real alpha channel.
Each provider has its own terms and retention, and we do not control what they keep. We do not promise that they exclude model training. We will name our current providers on request—write to the address below.
What we record about you
- Signing in uses Google. Google tells us your account id, email address, name and profile picture; we store those and nothing else about you. We never receive your password.
- A cookie holds your account id and email, signed so it cannot be altered. It cannot be read by scripts, lasts 30 days and is used only to know who you are. Signing out clears it. A second, short-lived cookie protects the sign-in step itself and expires after 10 minutes.
- For each job we keep technical details: file name, type, size, dimensions, duration, status and credits used.
- We keep a record of every credit granted, bought, reserved and spent, so a balance can be explained and a refund worked out. Payments are handled by PayPal; we never see a card number.
- We do not store IP addresses in our database. Our hosting provider processes request data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- We measure how the site is used with Google Analytics, which sets cookies (such as
_ga) and receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit, and with Plausible, which does not use cookies. Neither receives your files or what is in them. You can block both with a content blocker, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. - Your browser keeps the id of a job in progress for the current tab, and—only if you leave to sign in or buy credits—the file you chose, so you can continue without uploading it again. That saved file stays in your browser, not on our servers, and is removed once your job starts or after a day. Nothing here is sold or shared with advertisers.
Deletion and questions
Uploads and results delete themselves as described above. To have your account and its records deleted, or for any other privacy question, write to support@bgremover.online.
