ProRes 4444 to transparent WebM.
Exported a ProRes 4444 or QuickTime Animation MOV with alpha? Turn it into a small WebM with VP9 alpha that plays transparently on web pages and in OBS.
Good to know.
Which MOV files work?+
ProRes 4444 and 4444 XQ, QuickTime Animation and other MOVs whose pixel format includes alpha. An ordinary ProRes 422 has no alpha and is refused.
How small will the WebM be?+
In our 30-second 1080p test it was under 10 MB—dozens of times smaller than the ProRes master—while keeping soft edges.
What is the FFmpeg equivalent?+
ffmpeg -i input.mov -c:v libvpx-vp9 -pix_fmt yuva420p -auto-alt-ref 0 -b:v 0 -crf 32 output.webm
What if my video has no transparency?+
Then there is no alpha to keep: converting an ordinary MP4 only produces an opaque file. The converter says so instead of guessing. Use the AI video background remover first, then convert the result.
Is it really free?+
Yes. Sign in with Google and convert up to 10 files a day without credits. Files up to 30 seconds, 1080p, 30 fps and 100 MB. Results stay in My videos for 7 days.
